Description
Made by Vinny in 1991, this is a vintage Fodera, the resonance of the wood for 30 years gives the bass a unique tone. This is a bass for a working musician, that needs a tone that cuts thru the mix in live or studio situations.
The sound of a 30 years old bass is amazing. Nice mids that cut thru the mix. Great definition. The combination of woods gives a unique personality to this bass. This bass is incredible. Plays and sounds beautiful. Super thick lows, without being boomy. Crisp clear highs without being brittle. An unbelievably tight B string. Exactly what you would expect from a Fodera Elite.
Apparently the original owner had his name engraved in it as a custom option. The next owner didn’t want that and sent it to Fodera who did the Emperor inlay. It’s very well done and in person looks very nice. The bass itself is in VERY good condition. There are a couple minor dents here and there that can be seen in photos and it had a small crack in the fretboard around the 21st fret that was long ago repaired.
The preamp was updated in 2011 to a custom shop Fodera/Pope pre and the pickups were updated to Fodera/Duncan dual coils in 2014. So basically it has the same electronics and build you would get in an Elite today for a fraction of the price.
