Onboard, you’ll find a pair of EMG humbucking pickups, a bridge piezo system, an 18V preamp, and powerful active electronics that tie each component together for amazing tonal flexibility.

Never one to rest his laurels, Ned Steinberger chose to push what a bass guitar could (and should!) be. The CR5’s Diradial body is built from resonant maple and features a revolutionary convex body shape that’s built for exceptional balance and comfort. Its Fusion neck is a hybrid creation of solid maple embedded with a continuous carbon fiber core that enhances each note’s sustain and definition for superior tone.

Integral Pickup System delivers big bass tones

The CR5 Radius houses a combination of piezo and magnetic pickups designed by NS Design and EMG. This powerful combination delivers any electric tone you can dream of, while NS’ bridge-mounted Polar piezo pickup system offers immaculate acoustic bass tones for a mellower approach that’s easy to switch to on the fly. The sheer range of tones onboard the CR5 is incredibly expansive, yet each sonic shade feels organic and full. This is thanks to the bass’ built-in 18V preamp and active electronics, which deliver enough dynamic headroom for any style of music.
